Carrier Connection Statuses

Rating, Dispatch, Tracking, eBOL, and Document requests all move through a set of statuses as Shipwell works with the carrier. The following are the possible statuses you'll see for each.

Dispatch Statuses

\n

The following are the possible statuses for a dispatch. See Dispatch for the full lifecycle.

QUOTINGA rate has been requested but the shipment has not yet been tendered to a carrier.
QUOTING_ACCEPTEDA rate has been accepted and is ready to be tendered to the carrier.
PENDINGThe dispatch request has been created and is waiting to be tendered.
TENDEREDThe shipment has been offered to the carrier and is awaiting their response.
CARRIER_CONFIRMEDThe carrier has accepted the tender.
DISPATCHEDThe booking is finalized and scheduled for pickup.
IN_TRANSITThe carrier has picked up the shipment and is hauling it.
AT_PICKUPThe shipment has arrived at the pickup location.
AT_DELIVERYThe shipment has arrived at the delivery location.
COMPLETEDThe shipment has been delivered and the dispatch is closed out.
CANCELLEDThe dispatch was cancelled before completion.
ERRORThe dispatch could not proceed due to an error.

Note

Not every dispatch passes through every status above — some are skipped depending on the carrier and shipment. CANCELLED and ERROR can occur at various points rather than only at the end.

Carrier Response Types

\n

After a shipment is tendered, the carrier responds with one of the following:

ACCEPTThe carrier commits to the booking.
DECLINEThe carrier turns down the tender.
REVOKEThe carrier withdraws a booking it had previously accepted.

Request Statuses (Rating, Tracking, eBOL, Documents)

\n

Rating, Tracking, eBOL, and Document requests are processed as asynchronous jobs, and each moves through the following statuses:

PROCESSINGThe request has been submitted and Shipwell is waiting on the carrier's response.
COMPLETEDThe carrier responded successfully and results are available.
ERROREDSomething went wrong communicating with the carrier.
CANCELLEDThe request was cancelled before it completed.
FAILEDThe request could not be completed.
EXPIREDThe carrier did not respond within the allowed time.

Tracking Event Types

Tracking updates are normalized into the following event types regardless of carrier. See Tracking for more detail.

PICKED_UPThe carrier has taken possession of the shipment.
IN_TRANSITThe shipment is moving toward its destination.
ARRIVED_AT_STOPThe shipment has reached an intermediate or final stop.
OUT_FOR_DELIVERYThe shipment is on its final leg to the delivery location.
DELIVEREDThe shipment has been delivered.
EXCEPTIONSomething unexpected has happened, such as a delay or missed appointment.
LOCATION_UPDATEA positional update was reported without a change in status.
